There were 7 of us at The Gates on a calm morning. We headed off past Piperdam to Tully and on to Coupar Angus. Li turned off at Blairgowrie, leaving 6 of us to take the Lochs road and on to Dunkeld. John, Keiran and Mat carried on doing a non stop leaving 3 to get the cakes in and wait for the steady run, who weren’t too far behind.
We all set off home up Birnam Brae and the usual route home. Some tired legs and we split into 2 groups before Newtyle and the final climb towards home! Some new PB’s for the beginners as they went further than before, well done.
My Garmin stats:
The plan was to go to Glen Clova, but the best laid plans….
A good bunch of Wheelers and Thistle left together and headed off to Newtyle, Meigle and on to Kirri with a strong wind always against us! At Kirri most elected to head to the cafe, while Fergus and Jim turned left and headed off towards Glen Clova. I missed them turning off, but doubled back and chased them. They must have been going well as I was burying myself and still couldn’t catch them. Then 5 minutes later my phone rang and it was Jim calling from the cafe!
The cafe staff must have had a wee shock as their quiet Sunday morning was interrupted by 18 cyclists, but we all got fed and watered eventually!
Home via Forfar and then a quick blast to Wellbank and back to Dundee, at last with strong tailwind!
There were 5 of us on a cold and windy morning at The Gates – definitely time to look out the winter gear. We passed another healthy turn out for the steady / beginners run as we headed out past Birkhill. Quick run out to Newtyle and Meigle where Li turned off, leaving 4 of us to go to Alyth. Then a couple of lumpy bits before arriving at Peel Farm.
Think there was about 17 of us at the cafe in total and we all headed off together past Loch of Lintrathen. We waited to regroup after Bow Woods where Vic entertained us by chasing tractors up and down the field 🙂
We then split into 2 groups with the steady run heading back the shorter route while we headed out toward Kirri then a magical mystery tour (for me) before finally getting a tailwind and down to Wellbank and on to Dundee.
A good squad at the Millenium Hall for the Beginners Run which merged with the steady run, so a group of 12 heading out to Newtyle. Then on to Meigle, right to bogside road and on to Forfar for the cafe stop. The Gates run met us at the cafe along with Vic, so was a bit of furniture shuffling to get us all at one table.
Then we all came home together via Glamis, Balkeerie and Newtyle.
A very enjoyable social run and well done to the newbies who went further and faster this week (about 44 miles at 15mph).
Fergus took some video and photos of us –
